Jack Lagan is a writer who's been sailing, on and off, since the 1960s. As a navigator he believes that those who travel on the sea should have one GPS set stowed in the chart table and 1,000 years of nautical exploration stowed in their hearts.Ocean voyaging is the last great adventure.

His particular passions include small islands in hot places (see photograph above) and the navigation skills needed to get himself there. He learned early in life that being able to cook was a great way to 'pull'. Later, he learned that it was also a great way to get free passage in other folk's boats. 'You can navigate and cook? Get your kit on board!'

He'll fix anything on a boat except the plumbing and will design and install a 'bells & whistles' navigation system for your sailboat in return for a month's diesel money...

Oh, and he writes books. These cover all kinds of topics, but the ones about seafaring are A B Sea and The Barefoot Navigator. The Master Marinater is work-in progress which you can sneak preview here on this web site.
